Path of Exile Item Upgrades

Item upgrades are a common and crucial method to enhance the performance of many items in Path of Exile. They can be a great source of damage and more AD or even more affixes.

Rare-grade equipment can be superior to modernized Common or Magic equipment due to their high demands.

Armor

Armor upgrades can be applied to both weapon and armor items. They increase the effectiveness of the item upgrading that they're connected to. Upgrades to armor are available in the world of the game and can be purchased from Blacksmiths at any bonfire. They can also be salvaged by using a professional or higher salvage kits to retrieve upgrade components from items.

The amount of damage a piece of armor or weapon is able to absorb is dependent on the degree of upgrades. The damage absorption of an item of armor will increase when it is upgraded to the maximum upgrade level. However, it's important keep in mind that this will increase its weight, which will cause it to be heavier than it was before.

There are a few different kinds of armor upgrades available in the game and each one has distinct effects. Certain upgrades give armor a greater number of health points, while others make it stronger and lighter. The type of armor upgrade that an Best item upgrader can get is indicated by the name of the upgrade, as shown in the table below.

Some of the upgrades also require magic or a hybrid technology and magic, which are indicated by the "Magic" and "Hybrids" entries in the table. Additionally, some upgrades require a charge to use, which are identified by the "Charges" entry in the table below. It is not recommended to upgrade armor past +9. The boost in defense generally isn't worth the weight and power cost of the upgrades.

Weapons

Weapon upgrades let players increase the effectiveness of certain aspects of an weapon. Upgrades can improve the accuracy of a rifle or the damage that shotgun shells do. Some weapons also have special upgrades that enhance their inherent capabilities. They include Frictionless Materials (improves stability and minimizes the risk of overheating) and Kinetic Coils (increases the velocity of projectiles for greater damage).

The majority of upgrades for weapons require a whetblade. It's one of three Power Dices and a different amount of Minerals and Erons. These can be gained by completing Side Quests or by killing a certain amount of bosses and monsters.

To improve their skills faster, most players will be more inclined to upgrade their weapons. Players should also upgrade the weapons their squadmates use to make them stronger. Shepard, for example, should upgrade the M92F in order to unlock the Beretta M93R. This will make the weapon more useful when used in conjunction with biotic specialists such as Grunt and Tali.

Jewels

Jewels are placed in the sockets of armor and weapons, increasing the stats of a weapon and providing additional effects. Jewelry crafting is the process of creating them. The quality of a jewel can be improved by the Jeweler in stages that range from Crude to Royal. The stat boosts can vary depending on the level the jewel is in when it's slotted into jewelry, weapons, or gear.

The Jeweler can create all kinds of gems, except for the rare and legendary ones which you must attain certain levels to gain. In contrast to other upgrade components, jewels can be swapped with another identical jewel without damaging the original one. However you can only swap out a jewel in an item of equipment only once.

Utilizing more jewels in the movement will make it more smooth, and is often done for aesthetic reasons. Jewels also enhance performance and make a surface harder than steel so that repeated friction caused by pivots does not cause damage to the movement.

In addition to the above-mentioned upgrades, the player can also get glyphs for their weapons and shields from a Glyphmaster. These are a small perk and can be swapped freely but aren't guaranteed to drop as loot. Glyphs are upgradeable, as jewelry, by visiting the Jeweler for gold and Scattered Crystal. Glyphs can also be taken out and returned to the inventory. Other upgrade components, such as aegis and traits, cannot be swapped out, and can only be recovered using an Upgrade Extractor or salvaging them with a Black Lion Salvage Kit or Ascended Salvage Tool.

Trinkets

Trinkets are small pieces of equipment that offer a wide range of small but useful benefits to your hero. They are available in the starting area as loot or personal story rewards. They can also be obtained from vendors and by doing road interaction. They can be found on the Trading Post, or crafted by jewelers.

The first trinkets a player is able to unlock is the cloak, which gives an unimportant but beneficial boost to movement speed and evasion. Then, they can get amulets, rings, and necklaces in a similar way to how a player obtains armor and weapons. Each piece of equipment comes with a slot for an upgrade which can be universal or jewel. Universal upgrades are smaller and can be utilized on any piece of equipment. Jewels cannot be upgraded or replaced and only work with certain trinkets.

These trinkets can also grant bonuses and abilities that are active whenever the hero is not fighting. This allows a hero to become more efficient even when not in combat. It can also compensate for the absence of excellent slots in the team or talent tree that are normally filled by a hero's top stats.

As a rule trinket upgrades should be prioritized over BiS (Best item upgrader in Slot) items you won't replace in the near future. Next, any items that have desirable statistics are less significant than the iLevel for the item that is to be upgraded. This is particularly true if an Best item upgrade has multiple stats you'd like to upgrade as it's usually better to upgrade just one important stat rather than two sub-optimal ones.

In addition to the items mentioned above, players will also find other trinkets in the form of trophies and rewards throughout the game. They can be earned through completing certain milestones in the story, for instance completing a chapter's main quest or destroying a boss. They can be viewed by selecting the appropriate achievement in the reward tab of the hero menu.
