World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading

Upgrades increase the value of certain numeric stats on weapons, armor and rings. Upgrades also increase bonuses such as Crit chance and PvE Damage.

For example a weapon that has the upgrade template that ends in % will suffer 3% attack damage every time it upgrades (relative to its previous value).

The cost for upgrading items increases when they reach the current level of the item. The cost rises with item's level.

Components

Upgrade components are items that can be slotted into weapons, armor, and trinkets to give a stat bonus or extra impact while they're being used. They can be acquired through crafting, buying from vendors trading or looting. Certain upgrades also come with special cosmetic effects.

Upgrade components can be inserted into equipment with a slot for them; the item must have been at the very least upgraded to blue level for a component to be applied. Upgrade components, unlike other mods, can only be applied once. They are not able to be replaced or applied multiple times. Infusions and Enrichments are type of upgrade component used to upgrade non-amulet legendary or ascending equipment, as as some non-ascended items. Infusions and enrichments can be retrieved by salvaging ascended gear or completing an elite mission in the Prophecies, Factions and Nightfall campaigns.

An upgrade can be prefixed or a suffix that alters the name of the equipment to which it is applied (for instancethe 'Canthan Armor Insignia is changed to Canthan Armor of Minor Vigor). Some upgrades increase an item's Mark Level or Rarity, allowing players create stronger versions of the equipment with fewer Upgrade Crystals than would be required to reach the same level of upgrade through normal methods.

A boost upgrade can change the attack or defence attributes of a weapon, or armor. After the player has completed the cutscene and defeated Crazed Mechanist the upgrades can be crafted at the Portative Forging Station. They can be dropped by enemies while upgrading other gear, or by buying them from the cash store for 500 upgrade crystals.

The player can have up to five boost upgrades at one time; each upgrade increases the likelihood that a better-quality version of the item will drop at the time of the next reset. This gives the player an incentive to continue upgrading their gear even if they're uncertain of the extent to which it will increase after a future reset.

The process of upgrading an item could be costly and it is likely that the item will eventually become obsolete or even break when the upgrade fails. Upgrade Crystals and assist powders are also destroyed if the upgrade fails. This is mitigated by the availability of cash shop items that can double or even eliminate chance of failure, and some upgrades that offer the benefit of being reinserted into an item.

Glyphs

Glyphs are upgrade components that can be placed in special sockets on the Paragon Board. Glyphs boost the power of nodes within a radius, which includes any pre-existing affixes. Glyphs are upgraded in a variety of ways, and we suggest getting them up to level 15 as soon as you can.

You will often find in the endgame that putting Glyphs is a great method to upgrade your equipment. They are the only upgrade components that can be upgraded directly to level 15 and provide an enormous boost to your power and radius on the Paragon Board, enabling you to climb higher nodes more quickly.

The majority of upgrades in the game can be replaced, however Glyphs are the one upgrade component that can be removed and re-placed without any restrictions. Only legendary equipment can be salvaged and replaced by using the help of a Black Lion Salvage Kit.

Each Glyph has a particular range of values that can enhance a stat by, and the value is displayed when you select the Glyph in your inventory. You can replace it with another Glyph of the same rank or higher rank, which will boost the overall value of the glyph.

There are Glyphs in the Black Lion Trading Post, as part of the Gem Store purchase or bundle with certain unlimited-use gathering tools and also through Faction Crypt raids. Every Faction Crypt can drop one of these Glyphs. There are also some rare glyphs you can find in any of the Faction Crypts.

Once you have the desired Glyphs then you have to put them on your gear. Each Glyph will grant a distinct bonus that boosts the stats of a particular set of nodes that are within a radius of the Glyph. Depending on the Glyph it could be +40 to one of your primary stats, or +25 to two of your secondary stats.

Using a Glyph will boost all the nodes that are linked to it, so you should try to place your Glyphs near the most important nodes of the Graph to maximize the impact. Druids, for instance should put their Glyphs close to their primary damage nodes. They may also consider placing them near their primary damage nodes.

Leveling

The upgrade system of items allows players to increase the effectiveness of certain items by adding upgraded components. This is commonly known as "upping". Each upgradeable item is assigned a level which determines the final stats. Upgraded items are able to be leveled until they reach a maximum level of ilvl 385. Each level of an item requires a different number of components to reach, and the upgrade costs increase as the item is leveled up.

Certain upgrades require a certain ingredient to activate. This ingredient is obtained by finishing Upgrade Recipes. These recipes can be purchased from NPCs or found on the upgrade tab in the crafting table. Each Upgrade Recipe that is completed results in a certain amount of Technology points. These points can be used to the upgrading of an item. When enough points have been earned, you will be able to claim the upgrade and receive its additional bonuses.

When an individual player improves the equipment they have, the base item is replaced by the new item upgrader kit. This means that the same piece of armor will be transformed into the form of a shield or weapon when upgraded. The new item comes with its own set of bonuses. This could be a disadvantage since the item may increase in price even if you do not need it.

Item upgrades can sometimes be rerolled, provided that the player has enough reroll tokens to be able to do so. This will cause the item to be exchanged for a brand new one, which will come with the level 1 base, and a completely different set of bonuses. This can be useful, but shouldn't be done often as it could waste resources.

Certain upgrades can increase their value, allowing players to customize their gear. Dolphin's Gift is a good example, since it grants an increase in power if the player continuously enters or leaves the water. This item can be upgraded multiple times, increasing the maximum roll every time by 10 increments. This item upgrader kit can be very valuable in PvP, as the Best item upgrader version of it could be worth between 20 and 50 times its value if it is not upgraded.

Requirements

The ability to upgrade items allows players to increase the quality of their equippable equipment - weapons, armor, and trinkets above ilvl 385--by offering the appropriate items and currency to an item upgrader NPC. Upgrading armor set pieces will also increase the defense base of the item, and upgrading weapon items will increase the damage base and the strength and dexterity required to meet the upgraded equipment's requirements.

All items are upgradeable up to five times, except for hero gear, which can be upgraded eight times. Each time you upgrade an object, it is at risk of failing. The failure rate increases as you go over the maximum number. Failures will result in the item reverting to its initial state, which will force the user to spend more materials than they would have to had they stopped upgrading at the maximum number of upgrades.

If an item fails to upgrade, the amount of accumulated experience in its growth bar is reset to zero. In addition the item will lose any bonus it earned such as crit chance and attack damage, as well as any additional effects associated with the effect (for example, increased heal over time or the speed of reloading). The player will be able to use their weapon or armor even after the failure.

Whenever an item is upgraded, the upgrades are applied from the lowest to the highest. This means that if a weapon gains an increase in the chance of crit the increase is applied before any increase in attack damage. Slots is a brand-new attribute that was added to the definitions of items. The value is calculated every time an upgrade occurs.

The amount of resources required to upgrade an item is determined on the rarity rating as well as the number of upgrade slots.
