Both robots excel at picking up surface debris off carpets and hard floors, and they're very adept at getting around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software makes smart maps of your home that aid the i3+ EVO navigate and clean in a manner that maximizes efficiency. The i3+ does not have the same obstacle avoidance capabilities as the i7+ or any other top-rated robots we have test. It may be stuck on power cords or socks and have trouble moving between different surfaces, like carpet and hardwood.

iRobot suggests that you clear areas that the i3+ EVO will vacuum prior to when you use it, and include getting rid of any clutter or toys it might encounter. It's also recommended to keep the dustbin and filter clear so they don't become clogged with dirt. If the i3+'s internal bin is empty or the battery is not fully charged, it returns to the docking station and empties the dirt into the station's external dustbin. Then it continues cleaning where it began. The i3+ EVO's battery lasts for approximately an hour and a half of continuous use. It takes around three hours to recharge.

2. Roomba from iRobot

The iRobot Roomba i7+ is the most powerful model of the flagship line from iRobot and has the most up-to-date features. It's self-charging and self-navigating. But the most significant feature is the self-emptying bin. This will eliminate the need for routine maintenance.

The Roomba i7+ can remember up to 10 floor plans and their names thanks to Imprint Smart Mapping, a system that allows it to create maps of rooms so that it can clean them more efficiently. It also integrates with the iRobot Home app to let you schedule cleaning jobs and direct your robot by voice or through the app.

In our testing the i7+ was faster and more maneuverable than our second-placed model, the eufy RoboVac G30, and it removed large chunks of pet hair from all surface kinds including carpeting. Its main advantage over the eufy, though, is its self-emptying dustbin, which eliminates a major source of maintenance and reduces the cost of maintenance.

We were also awestruck by the i7+'s compatibility Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant AI services. We utilized these services to instruct the robot to begin, stop, or pause cleaning sessions and also to move around the room, and to vacuum a particular area. The process of connecting the i7+ to these services was simple and straightforward using the iRobot Home app. Once connected, we were able to use the i7+'s voice commands like "Hey Alexa, vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home app also provides options to manage the i7+'s settings and monitoring its performance.

3. Dyson Cyclone V10

This tiny Dyson model is an all-sports car in a world of cordless vacuums that feel like minivans and buses. It's powerful enough to replace a traditional stand-up vacuum in a majority of homes, yet it is also small enough to fit on the bookcase or coffee table.

The V10 is powered by a 7-cell high-energy lithium-ion battery that can provide energy that is not faded for 60 minutes. Its advanced whole-machine filter system traps allergens and releases clean air back into your home. The specially designed head utilizes stiff nylon bristles that penetrate deep into carpets and collect large dust or crumbs. It comes with three suction modes to match the task at hand. The application also allows you to steer the robot manually if needed. For example my living room rug has a darkly colored border that tends to trip up some of the other robots I've tested. However, the HRV 425BL continued to move across the border without registering it as a cliff. The ability to program a weekly cleaning schedule for each week is a time-saving convenience.
