Path of Exile Item Upgrading

The ability to upgrade items allows players to improve their weapons and gear with new affixes that boost the base stats of the item or giving additional benefits. To upgrade items, the player must have the item in their inventory, and also access the kiln.

Items with weak bases, such as rings, can be upgraded into stronger bases. Items with strong bases, such as the Titans of eth have little changes in their stats.

Upgrade components

Upgrade components can be incorporated into weapons, armor, trinkets and tools for gathering, offering an attribute bonus or extra impact when the equipment is being used. They can be bought from vendors, or found as loot gathered by enemies or obtained from chests or missions. Some upgrades additionally have special cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require that the equipment be above a certain point before they are upgraded.

In order to upgrade the quality of a weapon or piece armor, the player must choose it and click the Upgrade button on the toolbar. This will display on the right-hand side of the screen a preview that shows the expected upgrade stats and the components or materials required for the upgrade.

There are three types: universal upgrades (which include gems) prefix upgrades and suffix upgrade components. Leveling

Path of Exile's upgrade system is different from the previous versions in a few important ways. Gear is now broken down into tracks, and items can only be upgraded a set number of times before they're "leveled out." The cost for upgrades increases with each level up, but the required materials don't increase as much. This lets players focus their efforts on a couple of important items to maximize their impact instead of spreading the upgrade costs across several items.
