However, unlike the i7+ or other top rated robots we test the i3+ does not have obstacle-avoidance capabilities and therefore it could get stuck on things such as power cords or socks, and it can have difficulty traversing transitions across surfaces like hardwood to rug.

iRobot suggests that you clear areas in which the i3+ EVO will vacuum prior to when you use it, and include getting rid of any toys or clutter it may come across. It's also a good idea to keep the dustbin and filter clear so they aren't clogged by dirt. If the i3+ EVO's internal bin is full or the battery is depleted it will return to its docking station and automatically empties its debris into the station's external dustbin and then resumes cleaning the area where it began. The battery's lifespan is around an hour and a half of continuous usage. It takes about three hours to charge.

2. iRobot Roomba i7+

The iRobot Roomba i7+ is the most powerful model in iRobot's flagship line, and it has the most up-to-date features. It has self-charging and self-navigating. But the most significant feature is its self-emptying bin. This eliminates the need for routine maintenance.

The Roomba i7+ can remember up to 10 floor plans and their names using Imprint Smart Mapping, an application that lets it create maps of rooms so that it can clean them more efficiently. It also works with the iRobot Home app to let you schedule cleaning jobs and control your Robot Vacuum Cleaner Quiet with voice or via the app.

The i7+ is faster and more agile in our tests than the eufy RoboVac G30. It also picked up large pet hair pieces from any surface including carpeting. The biggest benefit over the eufy, though, is its self-emptying dustbin, which removes a major source of maintenance and cuts down on recurring costs.

We were also awestruck by the i7+'s compatibility Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant AI services which we used to instruct the robot to start, stop or pause its cleaning sessions, move itself around the room, and even vacuum an area. The process of connecting the i7+ to these services was simple and straightforward through the iRobot Home app. Once connected, to speak commands to the i7+, for example "Hey Alexa vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home App also offers options to manage i7+ settings and monitoring performance.

3. Dyson Cyclone V10

In a world of vacuums with cords that feel like minivans or buses, this tiny Dyson model feels like an old-fashioned sports car. It has the power and features to replace a stand-up vacuum for most households, but it also fits perfectly next to a coffee table or on the bookshelf, that you can spin around like the magic wand.

The V10 is powered by a seven-cell, high-energy lithium-ion battery that can provide fade-free power for 60 minutes. Its sophisticated whole-machine filtration system removes allergens, and then releases clean air back into your home. In our testing of the Jet Bot AI+ excelled on hard floors, and also handled dog hair (on carpet) quite well, cleaning up 86 percent of it. It was not as successful in avoiding taller items like socks or cords. This was disappointing.
